Basic Types of Air Filters

One device that is crucial in the longevity of the car’s engine is an air filter.  An air filter is the one removing the particles in the air that would otherwise cause wear on your car’s engine.  When you filter your air, you will remove only the large particles in the air.  The fine dusts and silts can still make their way through your car’s engine.  This is a normal situation and a highly effective filtering device would quickly load up and start the car’s engine for air.

Generally, there are three basic types of air filters that are used today.  First is the paper air filter.  They are the most common among small engines.  Similar to a vacuum cleaner bag, they are allowing to air to pass through while they are catching the debris.  This is the disposable type.

The second type is the cleanable filters which are more expensive.  This type is more effective and you will not need to replace your filter element with the use of this.  Finally, the oil bath filter elements are not much the finest filter mechanism.  They are using oil bath and a large mesh filter medium in catching the particles and then grab the dusts entering the air intake.
