Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa bordered by four countries. Except for the seas, Zimbabwe has all the mind-blowing landscapes that provide enough reasons for tourism in the country. Hence tourism is the fastest growing industry in Zimbabwe. Scenic rivers, valleys, hills and savannahs, all encourage tourism in the country. In addition to the natural beauty, it is Zimbabwe’s wildlife that accounts for most of the cheap flights to Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. Hwange National Park:
Conserved in 1929, Hwange National Park boasts more than 100 mammal species and 400 bird species. Until before 1929, Hwange National Park was used for huting by the Ndebele warrior king, Mzilikazi. This is where tourists may find one of the largest populations of elephants that are famous around the world. The national park has many luxury camps, lodges, cottages and other accommodation facilities along with shops, restaurants and bars. Safari Walks, Fishing, Detema Dam, Masuma Dam, Madavu Dam, Ngweshla Pan, Nyamandhlovu Platform and Dom waterhole are some of the most attractive sites of Hwange National Park apart from the exotic wildlife.
Kariba:
Lake Kariba is situated in Zambezi River and is home to small islands, forests and a dam. It is an extremely picturesque site which is hard to forget, if once visited. The shoreline of Lake Kariba inhabits exotic wildlife and bird species and this is the point from where a scenic sunset can be captured on the camera. This lake is located at a 365km drives from the Zimbabwean capital, Harare.
Gonarezhou National Park:
The word “Gona” is from Shona language and means “Tusks”. As clear from its name, Gonarezhou National Park is home to some of the world popular African elephant species. Lion, leopard, cheetah (including the rare king cheetah), buffalo, giraffe, zebra and large antelopes are found in the park. The most noticeable species of this national park remain Nyala and Smaller Suni which are kinds of smaller antelopes. These animals along with hundreds of bird species, feed on the many pools and lakes formed by the crossing of Rivers Save, Runde and Mwenezi through the park. These rivers are home to Zambezi Shark, Freshwater Goby, Black Bream and the unique Turquoise Killifish.
Eastern Highlands:
These are the cooler and wetter areas of Zimbabwe, popular for hiking, camping and fishing. There, one may find excellent accommodation facilities as fishing, national parks, valleys and dams perfectly treat for a holiday. Gonarezhou National Park and Nyanga National Park are situated here which house hundreds of bird, animal and aquatic wildlife species. Furthermore, spectacular views from Bvumba and Chimanimani hills can be enjoyed.
Great Zimbabwe Monument:
Great Zimbabwe was the capital city of Zimbabwe between 11th and 15th centuries. Its ruined site is now a breathtaking attraction for history lovers.
Victoria Falls:
Victoria Falls are one of the most notable features of the Zambezi River. The waterfall provides for a scenic picnic spot along and offers a national park to be enjoyed.
