Upgrading Your Computer’s Memory

November 6th, 2009

Upgrading the memory of your laptop or computer is the most cost-effective way to improve a computer’s performance.  However, there are many users who still stay away from memory upgrade.  Probably because of the lack of knowledge, the fear of spoiling the computer, some warranty issues or compatibility issues.

A computer’s memory upgrade seems complicated to most people.  This is because only few computer users has an idea about Motherboards, Graphic cards, or RAM.  What matters to them is that they know their computer is working when it is turned on.

From 2004, lots of computers have double data rate, second generation or the DDR2 memory.  But before that time most computers already have DDR first generation SDRAM.  The DDR2 memory is the new standard that boosts the conventional SDRAM memory up to the speed of over 200 MHZ and so.  Having a faster RAM speed will not make your computer work faster for you still have to upgrade it or to increase the amount of RAM in it to be able to increase its performance.  256MB – 512MB of RAM will speed up a computer but going for a 2GB DDR2 memory will make it even faster.
